Bath is a thriving, vibrant city with a year round calender of festivals, theatrical, musical and sporting events. For Jane Austen fans enjoy the festival dedicated to her in September or attend a show at the theatre, something that Jane herself loved to do.
Regency Costumed Summer Ball (27 June 2015)
Dress up in your favourite 18th century style empire line gown and spend the evening at our fabulous Regency costumed ball dancing the night away to live music.
Jane Austen's Bath at the Victoria Art Gallery (4 July - 4 October 2015)
As part of the special exhibition, ‘Jane Austen's Bath,’ the Victoria Art Gallery is hosting the following;
6 & 13 August: Bath Minuet Dancers perform in the gallery from 5.00-7.00pm
20 & 27 August: Jane Austen Dancers perform in the gallery from 5.00-7.00pm
9, 16 and 23 September: Jane Austen themed talks, 1.10-1.45pm, free in the Guildhall.
4, 14, 23 August & 11, 27, 30 September: Free Jane Austen walks with the Mayor’s Guides, from Abbey Church Yard at 11am, finishing at the Victoria Art Gallery.
The Jane Austen Festival (11 - 20 September 2015)
Come and join the 15th Jane Austen Festival in Bath! Ten full and hectic days of Jane Austen and Regency events in the centre of Bath.
The theatre that Jane Austen loved to attend opened in Orchard Street in 1750. In 1768 it was distinguished by being the first theatre outside London to be protected by a royal patent. This theatre drew superstars of the time like Sarah Siddons and today the Theatre Royal in Sawclose, dating from 1805, attracts pre-West End shows and top name performers.
Strictly Jane Austen (26 - 29 June 2015; 11 - 13 Sept 2015)
An exciting Austen themed tour that spans 4 whole days! Immerse yourself in Bath as Jane would have experienced it as you "take the waters," enjoy a guided tour of all the must see sites and celebrate at the grand Duchess' Ball as you show off your newly aquired Regency dance steps. A must for any avid Jane Austen fan.
